Manomin Resawn Timbers

Stockwell Homes believes it takes a team to build the dream. Some days this is almost palpable while we collaborate at Stockwell Homes, creating meaningful relationships with our clients, and very importantly - working with trusted partners who specialize in unique services and goods that enhance the industry. One of our favorite partners is Manomin Resawn Timbers. Manomin is a one-of-a-kind, woman-owned, Minnesota company that specializes in reusing reclaimed wood from old barns, outbuildings, warehouses, and factories to create beautiful flooring, paneling, timbers, and mantels. These stunning pieces add history and natural beauty to the interior of any home and are a great way to warm up any spaces that may feel sterile or cold. Wrapping beams or adding a custom mantle is one of our favorite ways to showcase Manimin’s unique pieces while adding architectural interest to a home.

As women in the industry, we love encountering other women-owned companies.

Sarah Londerville & her son, Michael

Sarah Londerville started Manomin Resawn Timbers in 2001 after working in the retail industry. Her company sources reclaimed wood from barn dismantlers, then prepares and machines the wood into a usable product. This business has grown significantly over the past 22 years with over 20 employees and now works alongside her son, Michael, who runs production. Sarah grew up in the country in central Wisconsin in a metal salvage yard surrounded by old farms. Over the years, farming has become more commercial and as many small farms shuttered, the barns have fallen into disrepair. Sarah saw an opportunity to salvage the beautiful wood materials from these buildings while creating something new. All of their reclaimed wood is sourced in the United States and offers a way for many to preserve old structures as family heirlooms.

Below are just a few of our recent projects that have featured timbers and box beams by Manomin Resawn Timbers:

“Growing up in a scrap yard, we were always saving, collecting and reusing things. Reclaimed wood is very similar.” Londerville said. “Over the years, I have created a network of people I work with who take down buildings and barns to supply our lumber. Everything we sell is reclaimed.”

Preparing the wood is a labor-intensive process. When the wood arrives, it is de-nailed, kiln-dried, and heat-treated to kill bugs and larvae. At this point, the wood is sorted and sent to various machines to create the final product.

People feel they can find reclaimed lumber cheaper on Craigslist; but, as you can see, the process is extensive. Londerville and her team have perfected the system for delivering the best possible product.

Reclaimed wood can add warmth and character to any home. Our flooring is unique. It has so many great features that new grain wood does not have like original circle saw marks, patina, hardware marks and nail holes. It can even go over in-floor heat, below grade and directly over concrete because it has been drying naturally for well over 120 years.

Londerville prides herself on working with integrity. “Our motto is to under-promise and over-deliver. If we feel that we cannot meet your expectations, we will turn down the job. I would rather you understand what you are getting. Our goal is to educate our customers so there are no surprises.”

Last year Manomin Resawn Timbers was honored to receive the Trillium Award from the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) and the 2016 Best of Service Award from Houzz. If you don’t already, give their Instagram page a follow - they share not only beautifully finished spaces but fantastic behind-the-scenes footage of what this incredible process looks like from start to finish!

Though mixing woods and achieving a balance of modern and rustic character can be a delicate process, we love it when we find projects that allow us to collaborate with Sarah and her spectacular team.
